Domain

Another method for controling the contents of a speech corpus collection is by domain. Domain in this context means the topic or field of topics or the situation in which a verbal communication takes place.

The domain could be for instance:

• Weather
• Restaurants in Heidelberg
• Speeches in the House of Parliament
• Fairy Tales
• Last nights's TV program

Although the exact vocabulary cannot be determined by this method, it is a good method for achieving a rather closed vocabulary without restricting the speakers too much.
