Annotation Prosodic labeling for User State TNNN_SD.trp This file contains the orthographic transliteration of spontaneous spoken language as described in 'readme.trl'. The transliteration text has been modified in the following way: (Note that this annotation is completely integrated in the BAS Partitur Format files (BPF) found in 'annot/par' (tier: USP). The original *.trp files are stored in 'annot/trp'.) 1. elimination of the annotation of - linguistic prosodic features, cf. README.TRL (labels enclosed in '[]') - noise (marker beginning with '#' or '<#>' or bracketing with those) - pause ('

') - overlapped speech (word modifiers '...1@' or '@1...') - special comments ('<;...>') - tildes for marking names ('~...') - words hard to understand ('...%'; note that the marker '<%>' denoting a completely non-understandable item remains!) 2. inserted the annotation of the meta-linguistic prosodic features - [PAUSE_PHRASE]: irregular pause on a phrasal level - [PAUSE_WORD]: irregular pause on a word unit level - [PAUSE_SYLL]: irregular pause on a syllable level - [LENGTH_SYLL]: lenghtening of a syllable - [EMPHASIS]: emphatic accentuation - [STRONG_EMPH]: stronger emphatic accentuation - [CLEAR_ART]: clear articulated speech - [HYPER_ART]: hyperarticulated speech - [LAUGHTER]: speech overlapped by laughter, sigh or the like 3. more than one label per word is allowed and a feature occurring at several adjacent words is marked at each word by a separate label 4. added information about durations in ms, surrounded by curved brackets: {%snd : "sound file name" _begin _ end}, where "%snd" stands for "sound" and "_begin, _end" are given in ms from the beginning of the sound file; the time information is added in the following way: - [PAUSE_PHRASE], [PAUSE_WORD]: duration of the word before the pause plus the pause duration - [PAUSE_SYLL]: duration of the word with a pause between its syllables - [LENGTH_SYLL]: duration of the word with a lengthened syllable - [EMPHASIS]: duration of the word with an emphatic accentuation - [STRONG_EMPH]: duration of the word with a stronger emphatic accentuation - [CLEAR_ART]: duration of the clear articulated word - [HYPER_ART]: duration of the hyperarticulated word - [LAUGHTER]: duration of the overlapped word The various label are placed after each word, which reveals the annotated phenomena; of course, pause label are placed between the relevant units. The meta-linguistic prosodic annotation is part of the so-called user state annotation. User states are positive or negative attitudes of users towards a certain system in human-computer interaction; cf. 'doc/techdocs/TechDok-NR-17.ps' for more information.
