Definition |
Noises that are not attributable to any speaker, are technical noises. These may be noises caused by the recording instruments, telephones ringing, dropping things, or noises simply caused by people moving around, among others. |
Description | There are several ways to describe such noises, but in order to remain consistent, noises are categorized into a limited number: |
1. <#Knock>: Noise with only one impulse. Examples may include the slam of a door, the slap of a hand upon a table or the clap of a hand, but <#Knock> can be anything that is just a one-impulse sound. 2. <#Rustle>: Toneless. Examples include paper rustling or the rustle of clothing. Additional examples may include the sound of blowing into a microphone, or microphone interference 3. <#Squeak>: Has tonal character. Examples may include the opening of a door or the moving of furniture. Also sounds such as that of a telephone ringing, birds chirping, sirens, or the sound of a computer humming. 4.<#>: Trash category. Any noise that does not comply with the above guidelines.
